Come explore the ingredients for livable cities and the role of design-thinking in urban development with us! Keynotes, workshops & true-life examples etc.

Livable City Forum explores true-life examples of strategies, methods and partnerships utilising design thinking for better and more sustainable urban development. But more than this, you’ll also get to experience the methods first hand! As cities compete globally to attract the best talents, the urban culture and wellbeing become increasingly important. Higher education campuses become key hubs for development. Livable City Forum is all about sharing experiences and learning from each other – and this is why we hope, that You will be there too!

WEDNESDAY 8 June | Turku Campus Challenge
Contribute to the Campus Pilot of University of Turku and experience personally an intensive design-doing process in groups in the Campus Challenge Bootcamp! Teams will help you to go through!

THURSDAY 9 June | Helsinki Design Picnic
How can design enhance the urban livability and development? Come and experience the best bits and practices of Helsinki, a City of Design – we promise you won’t be bored! Keynotes from design director Anne Stenros, noted urban blogger Timo Hämäläinen and deputy mayor of Helsinki Anni Sinnemäki + plenty of other thought-provoking urbanists yet to be announced!
Venue: Arabia Campus of Helsinki Metropolia UAS, Hämeentie 161 / Helsinki
Time: 9 am – 5 pm | Social evening starting at 7 pm, evening venue TBC

FRIDAY 10 June | Sustainability + Design
What will come out of a dialogue between sustainability-thinking and design-thinking? Insights from the participatory planning process of the new resilient Albano Campus (Stockholm) uncovered!

The event is organised by the project Live Baltic Campus in collaboration with Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, University of Turku and the City of Helsinki, and is partly funded by the Central Baltic Programme. Campus areas as labs for participative urban design! The project Live Baltic Campus combines design and facilitation-based methods to create a new working method for joint planning. Six urban campuses of Central Baltic - in Helsinki, Riga, Stockholm, Tartu, Turku and Uppsala - join forces for better cities!
