Kuvan Kevät 2009, the Degree Show of the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts is an exhibition of work by forty students graduating this year. Art at its freshest!

The degree show of the only fine arts university in Finland has become a tradition in the Finnish fine arts scene. However, there is nothing traditional in the works of the show. They present worlds where dancing hair-dryers, never ending rain and gigantic cylinders meet – all to be pondered in eternal rain.

The show is an opportunity to discover tomorrow’s top artists or to make up your mind about where Finnish contemporary art is going.
For the first time, the venue of the degree show will be the Academy’s main building (Taiteen talo) in Sörnäinen. In addition, works will be shown in the Academy’s galleries on Kasarmikatu and Lönnrotinkatu as well as in various sites across the city.

The show will be open from 14 May to 7 June 2009.

Guided tour in English on Sunday 24th may at 4 p.m. As guide RIIKKA STEWEN professor of art history.
