I enjoy painting and drawing meditatively. Repetition is a defining feature of both my method and my art. Most of my paintings are reductive linear compositions. Others consist mainly of colour planes built up of dozens of layers of thin paint.
At the moment I am fascinated by the process by which an artwork acquires its content. Or, in other words, how an image or painting is viewed and read, and how it relates to its setting and other pieces in the same space – the fundamentals, as it were.
My work in the MFA Degree Show continues a series of “corner murals” I have been working on. A corner, being a point where two walls meet at right angles, offers an interesting space for combining two- and three-dimensional representation. I somehow also see corners as a symbol of endings and beginnings.
