“If it ain’t in the script, it ain’t in the series.”

The sentence above often heard at international drama series forums, inspired the first Helsinki Script in 2016. Our one day event is all about creating and commissioning drama series.

In 2017 the new association Fiction Finland and City of Helsinki stepped in to enable the continuation. In the turbulent year of 2017, there will be a special focus on series that capture and make a difference.

Join in to meet the multi-awarded Mette M. Bølstad, whose popular series Nobel deals with Norwegian soldiers returning from Afghanistan. The 4th season of Jed Mercurio’s ethical cop saga Line of Duty hooked 10 million viewers to BBC in May 2017. Norwegian Skam/Shame that targeted domestic youth, hit authentic emotions and became a must to all ages in the Nordic region. Ran Tellem commissioned the original Hatum and then won an Emmy for its US remake Homeland. Now the Indian version has premiered.

How is the global drama traffic changing? This spring top producer Anna Croneman was elected new Head of Drama at SVT. What does she and her Scandinavian colleagues seek in post Nordic Noir times? And where is the complex fantasy drama heading? The European Script Award will be delivered to an upcoming scriptwriter at Helsinki Script. The dialogues will continue and new ones start at the evening networking.
