The snowy landscape was melting rapidly, and the water level in the river kept rising. The familiar environment became completely alien. The water rose to the fields and roads, where it lay stagnant. The current was strong in the riverbed. The river carried boats, piers and riverside cabins from upstream. Most of the drifting parts piled up against the dam structures of the old mill, but some parts continued downstream to the old stone bridge.
