painting

As I started working some time ago, my mind was filled with different scenes, such as the verge of the roof set over a blue- grained sky in Tuscany. I wanted to paint something deep and spacious.

I began with clear colours. However, as I went on, I covered everything with black, white and yellow. As the autumn went on, the shades of nature also became muffled, and even my studio became grey. I was forced
to admit that my motivations for painting were not directly related to the light in Italy after all.

As I’m writing this, winter is slowly slid- ing towards spring. This is the time before light starts flooding in through every door and window. I have nurtured an image of an even, thin, transparent lemon-yellow layer on a large canvas.
